COOPER, Captain James, Beeville Bee, 5 Feb 1897: Captain James Cooper, a well known bookkeeper and financial manager for Col. D. R. Fant, the big cow man, died on the Santa Rosa ranch, a hundred miles southwest of here in January. His death was the result of paralysis to which he had been subject for several years and he lived only thirty six hours after being attacked. As it was impossible to bring his remains to Goliad, where he had lived so long, he was buried on the ranch.
