HOWARD, Tom, Beeville Bee, 7 Jan 1898:

News was received here yesterday of the death of “Uncle Tom” Howard, the venerable 
father of the late Post Master, W. S. Howard.  

Mr. Howard’s death occurred at the home of his son-in-law, Rev. S. B. Kimball, near 
Mineral City.  He was one of the oldest citizens of the county, being in his 82nd year.  
It is said that on receiving the news of the death of Mrs. Howard last Monday, he fainted 
and remained in a comatose state until he expired.  

He leaves an aged wife to whom he has been married over 50 years, who is reported 
as being in a precarious state.
