MALONE, Thomas B., Beeville Bee, 16 Nov 1900: Thomas B. Malone, one of the oldest citizens of the county died at his home near Mineral City on Sunday morning, Nov. 11, 1900. He was buried in the Beeville Cemetery on Monday. The deceased was a native of Mississippi and in the 72nd year of his age at the time of his death. He was a veteran of both the Mexican and the civil wars, having been a member of the famous Mississippi Rifles in the former and commanded by Jefferson Davis. Shortly after the Mexican war he immigrated to Texas with his brother, the late Colonel F. J. Malone, and settled on the San Antonio river, and afterwards moved to the place where he died. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. T. Renfro of the Methodist church. Mr. J. C. Thompson, as an old and valued friend, spoke also at the grave and touchingly referred to the qualities of the deceased and as a man. He was one of the few remaining earlier settlers of the county.
