McCAMPBELL, James A., Beeville Bee, Friday, 9 Jul 1897: What purports to be a copy of the will of the late James A. McCampbell, who died some months ago has been filed for probate in the county court of Live Oak County. The original is in possession of an Alabama lawyer who represents Mr. Campbell’s interest in that state. According to the terms of the will, all property is bequeathed to Tom Weston and wife, Colored. Mr. McCampbell had no children of his own. For fifteen years previous to his death he had been an invalid and had been cared for by Weston’s wife, whose mother and father were owned by him as slaves. The property bequeathed in this state comprises 2000 acres of land on the Ramirena Creek, in Live Oak County. The extent of the property in Alabama is not known by our informant. The appearance of a will is doubtless in the nature of a surprise to relatives and friends of the deceased, as its existence was unknown to them. The estate had already been administered upon by the county court of Live Oak and Ralph McCampbell, a relative of the deceased appointed as administrator.
