McGUILL, Michael, Beeville Bee, 11 Jan 1901: Michael McGuill, son of the late Thos. McGuill and brother of Martin McGuill of Blanconia, died at the family home at 11 o’clock Saturday, the 5th, inst., and was buried on Sunday in the family burying ground near his home. The deceased was in his fortieth year and was a bachelor. For a year or more he had been suffering from tuberculosis of the throat, said to have been contracted while nursing a relative in his last illness with consumption. The disease attacked Mr. McGuill’s throat and though previously a strong and healthy man, it soon destroyed his voice and for nearly a year up to the time of his death, he was unable to speak above a whisper. He has traveled extensively and been treated by numerous specialists but could not get relief. He was a communicant of the Catholic church, the last rites of which were administered to him by Father Monclus of Beeville, the day before his death. He leaves a number of friends and relatives to mourn him.
