NOTT, Dr. Julius, Beeville Bee, 20 Nov 1896: A SUDDEN DEATH. A well-known Physician Missed From His Meals Found Dead In His Apartment. Dr. Julius Nott, the oldest and one of the best known Physicians in Beeville was found dead in his apartment adjoining his office on St. Mary’s street last Friday afternoon. The deceased was a bachelor, and since his residence here, covering a period of eighteen years he has taken his meals with the families of Major W. S. Dugat and Mr. B. J. Thomas, a relative of the Major. For the last three years he has taken his meals with Mr. Thomas quite as often as with Major Dugat, the families being closely related, he during his long acquaintance having become almost one of the family. On the morning of his sad demise, he did not appear at the residence of Mr. Thomas, a short distance up the street, but nothing was thought of it until Mr. Thomas happened to pass the residence of Major Dugat and dropped in to inquire after the health of the family, and finding Mr. Nott, not there. He was found in his locked apartment, dead from ruptured blood vessel in the head. The funeral was held the following morning from the residence of Major Dugat, Rev. H. R. Laird of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Mr. Nott was past 69 years of age, a native of the state of South Carolina. He comes from a long line of medical stock. Dr. Nott died intestate, his nearest relative being Dr. Nott, a well-known physician of Goliad, and a sister living in South Carolina.
