Allsup, Mrs. Mattie N., Beeville Bee, Friday, 19 Feb 1892:

The Bee regrets to chronicle the death of Mrs. Mattie N. Allsup, which occurred at 8 AM 
on the 16th inst at Waelden, Gonzales county, TX.  The circumstance of this death are 
peculiarly sad.  The deceased was a daughter of Mr. J. M. Madray, an old and highly 
respected citizen of the county.  She had entered her 26th year.  A little over three weeks 
ago she became the bride of Mr. Newton Allsup and the happy couple were on their bridal 
tour when the bride was seized by la grippe.  The remains were conveyed on the Aransas 
Pass railroad, Tuesday and transported to her parents home on the Aransas the same 
evening.  On Wednesday she was laid to rest in the cemetery near Aransas.
