ARCHER, Mrs. Mary Jane, Beeville Picayune, Thursday, 16 Apr 1914, page 6 (Mineral column): Mrs. Mary Jane ARCHER died here at the home of her son, Alex, last Wednesday, after a lingering illness. She first had la grippe and took a relapse. Mrs. ARCHER was a devout Christian woman and joined the Methodist church at an early age. Mrs. ARCHER was a native of Louisiana. She came to Texas over forty years ago and has been here in Bee county over thirty years. At Papalote, she married Mr. CALLIHAN and they had two children, David, living at Laura, Okla., and Anne, who resides at Taft. Mr. CALLIHAN was killed in the Civil war. 1n 1865 she married John ARCHER and while the children were yet small they came to Mineral. From this marriage there were five children, Branch, Alex, George, Ida and Nellie. Mr. ARCHER died in 1892 and their oldest boy, Branch, died in May, 1912. The remains were interred in the Mineral cemetery Thursday, April 2nd. She leaves behind, besides seven children, many grandchildren, and hosts of sorrowing friends who followed her to her last resting place with sadness. Rev. FOSTER of Oakville officiated at the cemetery. Those out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Lucy THOMAS, sister of the deceased, C. I. SWAN, Sr., and J. E. SWAN of Normanna, John THOMAS, Louis MASSENGALE and wife and Mrs. Abby COPELAND of Pettus, W. D. MALEY and wife, Mrs. C. H. MALEY and son, Jay of Salt Branch, Mrs. J. J. GIBSON and mother of Taft and George ARCHER and wife of Oakville. Loving friends filled the grave with beautiful flowers.
