Miss Ruth BEST, formerly a resident of Beeville, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. F. L. ADAMS. at Deming, N. M., Sunday, August 29, at 2 p.m. The remains arrived here at 12:43 p.m. today and were conveyed to the home of Mrs. Rachel RAY where religious services will be held this afternoon. Interment will be in Glenwood cemetery. The Picayune will publish a suitable obituary next week. Thursday, 10 September 1925, page 4 Ruth Mariam Best Miss Ruth Mariam BEST, the subject of this sketch, was born at Paint Lick, Ky, in December 1856, and died at Deming, N. M., August 29, 1925. She was one of several children of Tyree and Martha (FITZPATRICK) BEST. Deceased came to Texas and directly to Beeville in about 1891, accompanying her sister, Mrs. F. L. ADAMS and family, with whom she made her home as long as the family resided here, going with them to Tucson, Ariz. in April 1913 where she resided seven years, then went with the family to California for two years and then to Deming where her death occurred. Miss BEST, although she had been in failing health for some time, was ill but a week prior to her death and the end was unexpected. The remains were accompanied to Beeville by Rev. J. B. BROWN, son-in-law of Mrs. Adams, who arrived here on the 12:41 Southern Pacific train Thursday. They were taken to the home of Mrs. Rachel RAY and the funeral was held there at 4 p. m., Rev. R. H. SIMMANS, Christian minister being assisted by Rev. E. V. HORNE, Christian evangelist, and Rev. J. W. ALLBRITTEN, Methodist minister. The services at the grave were conducted by Bee Grove, Woodman Circle, of which the deceased was a charter member. Miss BEST, during her long residence in Beeville, established many friendships which have remained intact during her absence. These friends came and paid a last tribute of respect to her memory and brought beautiful floral offerings to place on her last resting place in Glenwood cemetery.
