BLANTON, Chas. H., Beeville Picayune, Thursday, 1 Jan 1914, page 7: Skidmore Editor Dies. Chas. H. BLANTON, for the past seven years editor and proprietor of the Skidmore Signal, died Monday morning at his home in Skidmore, after a week's illness with typhoid pneumonia. Mr. BLANTON had not been in good health for some time, but his demise was a shock to his Beeville friends, to whom his serious illness was not known until his death was announced. Mr. BLANTON came to Skidmore from Karnes county, where he was in the newspaper business for many years. He was a versatile writer and gave the people of Skidmore a splendid newspaper. He was a hale fellow well met and numbered all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance as his friends. To the widow and orphans the Picayune extends sincerest sympathy in their irreparable loss. The remains were laid to rest in the Skidmore cemetery Tuesday.
