BYUS, James T., Beeville Bee, Thursday, 31 Oct 1889: J. T. Byus Dead. Mr. James T. Byus, a well known citizen of this County died from consumption in San Antonio last Sunday the 27th inst. And his remains were interred at this place Monday evening by the Knights of Honor in which he had a $2,000.00 insurance. Mr. Byus was a native of the state of Maryland, being born near Baltimore, February 9, 1865 and settled in Bee County, locating in Mineral City and engaging in the mercantile pursuits. On the 14th of January 1885, Mr. Byus was married to Miss Maggie Malone, daughter of Mr. T. B. Malone, a prominent ranch man of this county. Three children were the results of this union, only one of whom, a little girl survives its father. About 2 years ago consumption took its hold upon Mr. Byus and since that time he has resided principally in San Antonio. The deceased was a kind husband, a true friend, and a good citizen. He leaves a devoted wife and a host of friends to mourn his death.
