CAIN, Rev. J. N., Beeville Bee, 5 Feb 1904: Rev. J. N. CAIN, the oldest minister of the West Texas Presbytery, died Wednesday at his home near Normanna, and was buried in the cemetery there yesterday with Masonic honors. The deceased was in his eighty-fourth year, a native of South Carolina and a graduate of the Columbia University, one of the oldest educational institutions in America, and the alma mater of many notable men of the south. He was an early immigrant to Texas and spent the active years of his life in the ministry of the Presbyterian Church, retiring a few years ago. He was known as one of the most erudite men in the Presbytery, reading the original Greek texts of the gospels with as much facility as the English translations. He leaves an aged wife and several children to mourn his death.
