CALLAWAY, Samuel B., Beeville Picayune, Thursday, 9 Apr 1914, page 6 (Normanna column): SAMUEL B. CALLAWAY Born in Carroll county, Missouri, July 6, 1837. Died in Bee county, Texas, Saturday, April 4, 1914, at the home of his son, Ed Callaway, after an illness of five weeks, buried in San Domingo Cemetery Sunday, April 5th at 10 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted by C. I. Swan and a choir of neighbors and friends who sang the hymn he loved - and which he sang the night he died, "Jesus Lover Of My Soul." At an early age he became a Christian and joined the Methodist church, living always a consistent life, so much so that none who helped to perform the last rites in his honor could remember any criticism ever uttered against him. He was a good husband, father, neighbor, friend and his children's children are proud to claim descent from so worthy a sire. Beeville Picayune, Thursday, 16 Apr 1914, page 6 (Pettus column): Green Sheives and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Sheives' grandfather, Mr. Callaway, at the San Domingo cemetery Sunday. We understand that the Normanna correspondent will give an obituary.
