CARTER, Mrs. Clarissa, Beeville Bee, Wednesday, 31 Dec 1890: Surrounded by sorrowing friends and relatives last Sunday at 3 o’clock, Mrs. Clarissa Carter, wife of Giles Carter, passed from this earth to an eternal rest. Monday evening her remains were followed to her last resting place in the Beeville Cemetery. Deceased is a daughter of Allen Carter Jones, ones of the 1st settlers of Texas, who is also the father of Capt. A. C. Jones of this city. Mrs. Carter was born 62 years ago in Nacogdoches and was reared among the stirring events in the history of Texas as a republic. In 1842 she was married to Giles Carter who survives her, and has been a resident of Bee County since 1856. Mrs. Carter has been a constant member of the Methodist Church for the past 30 years. For the last 25 years Mr. Carter has been afflicted with paralysis, rendering him an invalid which Mrs. Carter herself, has been an intense sufferer from rheumatism
