CURTIS, H. C., Beeville Bee, 25 Nov 1910: H. C. CURTIS, dead and floating on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande at Matamoras last week, proved to have been a former resident of Bee County. Sixteen or seventeen years ago he was a deputy sheriff of Skidmore. For several years past he had been living Lyford. A money order found on his person led to his identity and is the basis of a suspicion that he was perhaps fouly dealt with. When he bought the money order at one of the up-river towns, he had more money on his person than the order required. The money was missing when he was found by the Mexican authorities. He was buried in Potter's Field at Matamoras without a coffin. The Mexican authorities saying that the advanced stage of decomposed of the body demanded internment.
