EADS, May, Beeville Bee, Friday, 22 Jun 1907 In the death of Miss May EADS, at San Antonio last Friday, unexpected as it was a shock as a source of sorrow to her many friends and acquaintances in this county where she was born and reared. She had been teaching school at San Patricio for the past session and was taken ill with appendicitis, a week before her death. Removed to the Santa Rosa Hospital on Tuesday following her illness, an operation on Wednesday disclosed that the malady had become so serious that little hopes were entertained for her recovery. The worst came on Friday and she gently passed away to the reward, which her short but useful life had earned for her. Her remains were brought to Beeville on the evening train and on Saturday was laid away in the new cemetery to await the final resurrection. The funeral took place from the Christian church of which she had been a member since early childhood. The service, conducted by Rev. W. I. BATTENFIELD, was impressively simple and typical of the life of the beautiful character. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Prof. and Mrs. H. M. EADS, and was a native of the county. She was a graduate of the Beeville High School and of the Sam Houston Normal School of Huntsville, her class standing in each of these institutions being among the highest. She had followed the profession of teaching to which she was peculiarly adapted by birth and training and had taught both in this and adjoining counties. At San Patricio she had been engaged for the forthcoming session long before the expiration of the session she was engaged in teaching at the time of her illness.
