GOEBLES, Father F. J., Beeville Picayune, Monday, 5 Feb 1912 :

Father F. J. Goebles, Pastor of the German Catholic Church of Corpus Christ lost his life in a 
fire that destroyed his home last Saturday night. The revered gentleman was past sixty years 
of age and was well known in Beeville where he had often visited and formerly held religious 
services in the county at various points. 

It is thought that he was either asleep when the fire (of unknown causes) started or else he had 
an attack of heart trouble and that in the excitement was unable to save himself. He was a man 
well loved by the people among whom he worked and enjoyed a wide acquaintance through out 
southwest Texas.
