GOODWIN, William, Beeville Bee, Wednesday, 10 Dec 1890:

Death of an old Veteran at Lagarto.  Departed this life on Saturday night the 6th inst., 
Mr. William Goodwin.  Uncle Billie as he was familiarly called was a veteran of the war for 
Texas Independence and the Mexican War.  He was engaged in the famous struggle 
of San Jacinto.  Thus the living links which connect us with the important historical events 
of the past are one by one broken and buried in the greedy grave of oblivion.  The deceased 
was eighty seven years of age and leaves a wife and several children to mourn him.
