HALE, Amanda Jane Fitzgerald, Beeville Bee or Picayune, 30 May 1919, pg 8 In Memory of Mrs. Dolph HALE On Saturday, May 25, 1918, as the day was fast coming to a close, the Angel of Death came and claimed Grandma HALE, as all who knew her called her, and bore away in its arms the sweet spirit. All that loving hands could do was done but to no avail. It is hard indeed to give up our loved ones but the Lord who doeth all things well, called her from this world of sorrow and pain. Grandma Hale was loved by all who knew her. All these friends bow in the deepest grief for her eyes are closed forever in this world. There was mot a more devoted mother. She was her children's earthly treasures, a sweet and dear mother. Heaven never gained a sweeter spirit. Mrs. Dolph Hale (Amanda Jane Fitzgerald) was born in 1848 and was 69 years, 7 months and 12 days old. (October 13, 1848) at the time of her death. She was the mother of eleven children. Five children and her husband preceded her in death. Besides her numerous friends and relatives, she leaves to mourn her untimely death, one sister, Mrs. Namsie Arnold; one brother Mr. Fitzgerald of Beaumont; three sons James Obe and Robert B., Mineral; Charley Louis, Pettus; three daughters, Mrs. Olivia Copeland, Pettus and Mrs. Fannie Randall, Junction City. All except Mrs. Randall and her brother were with her when the end came. The remains were laid to rest in the Mineral Cemetery Sunday evening at 6 o'clock. Rev. A. H. Clark, of Beeville conducting the service. The bereft family has the sympathy of the entire community.
