HALL, Evard Bartlett, Beeville Bee-Picayune, Thursday, 12 Feb 1948: E. B. Hall, Retired Merchant, Succumbs Monday; Funeral Is Held Here Tuesday Afternoon. E. B. Hall, 81-year-old retired merchant, died in a local hospital Monday afternoon at 2:30 o`clock. Mr. Hall had been in failing health several years. His condition became critical on the night of January 28, when he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in First Presbyterian church. Rev. W. J. Coleman, paster, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. W. C. Binford, Baptist minister. Flowers were banked on the casket and pulpit and lined the windows of the church. The main auditorium was filled to capacity, and many persons were seated in the balcony to hear the last rites said over the bier of a man they had loved for many years. The Rev. Mr. Coleman opened the service by reading several passages of scripture, including the 14th chapter of St. John, the 23rd Psalm, and other excerpts from the Bible. Rev. Mr. Binford led in prayer. Mrs. George C. Brown sang Carrie Jacobs Bond's Perfect Day. She was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Robert J. Beasley. "E. B. Hall lived without harboring poisonous darts of malice and suspicion," the Rev. Mr. Coleman said as he began his brief eulogy. "Despite the old saying that shrouds do not have pockets, Mr. Hall has been permitted to take much with him--a beautiful character, happy disposition, faith in Jehovah God, trust in men. May his rich life be an example for all of us." Internment was in Glenwood cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of Walker Funeral Home. The pallbearers were L. R. Hollingsworth, Rocky Reagan,Jr., Ernest Kinkler, Jack Forgason, Lonnie Borroum, Gus Luthringer, John P. Impson, and Dub Adair. Evron Bartlett Hall was born February 7, 1867, near Monticello, Ark. He was a son of M. T. and Josephine (Gillham) Hall. He was married to Miss Ida Belle Paddon in Arkansas in 1890. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Hall and children moved to Bee county in July 1906, and settled in the Clareville community. Mr. Hall operated a general merchandise store there until 1920 when he sold his business and moved to Beeville. He purchased the dry goods store from J. J. Dabbs, and was a merchant in Beeville until 1928, when he closed out the business. Mrs. Hall died October 20, 1928. On November 25, 1930, Mr. Hall was married to Mrs. Nellie M. Howard in Beeville, who survives him. Mr. Hall had been a member of the Presbyterian church since childhood, and was an elder in First Presbyterian church in Beeville at the time of his transition. Mr. Hall is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Grover C. Impson; a son J. T. Hall; two brothers, J. S. Hall and C. E. Hall, all of Beeville; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Brooks of Warren, Ark.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Warren LeBourveau, and a great-grandson, Paddy LeBourveau, of Beeville. Mr. Hall had been a member of the Macabee Lodge in Arkansas for many years.
