HART, Luke, Beeville Bee, Friday, 7 Mar 1902: Death of Luke Hart After several months suffering and patiently awaiting the final end, the generous soul of Luke HART took leave of its earthly abode last Tuesday morning and winged its way to its maker. The news, while not unexpected, cast a gloom over his large circle of friends, and on every hand was heard expressions of regret over his untimely end and words of sympathy for his bereaved relatives. The deceased was a native of Bee county, having been born at Papalote thirty-seven years ago, the second son of Luke HART, one of the early Irish Colonists, and his life was spent here in the county of his birth and among the people whom he had known from childhood, and whom he faithfully served for years in an official capacity. For the past two years he was deputy sheriff in charge of the jail, and discharged the duties of the position with impartial firmness and fidelity. The funeral occurred on Wednesday, the interment taking place in the Catholic cemetery at Papalote, the remains being accompanied to their last resting place by a large delegation from the Beeville Lodge Knights of Honor, of which Mr. Hart was a member.
