HENKE, Theodore, Beeville Bee, Friday, 31 Jan 1908: Theodore HENKE of this city, an aged and highly respected citizen, while visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry DIERSING, at Skidmore, Wednesday, was accidentally killed at 9:30 p. m. while crawling through a fence near the house, with a gun. In some way the weapon was discharged and the entire charge of birdshot entered his side, death resulting almost instantly. The deceased had been feeling unwell for several days and had gone to his daughter's house to recuperate, and had been on a hunt about the place the morning of the fatal accident. Theodore Henke had been a resident of Beeville since last November, moving here from Hobson, and purchasing the MEINRATH Truck Farm in North Beeville, and during his stay here has made many friends who will regret to learn of his untimely death. He was in his 64th year and leaves a wife and twelve children. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon from the Catholic Church in this city, internment in the Catholic Cemetery.
