JENKINS, Mrs. R. M., Beeville Bee, Friday, 17 Apr 1903: Four little children, the youngest an infant of six weeks, are left by the death of Mrs. R. M. JENKINS, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was a native of Mississippi and had moved to Texas with her husband in 1890, settling in Bee County where they have resided. The funeral took place yesterday. JENKINS, Mrs. Mattie A., Beeville Bee, Friday, 24 Apr 1903: The subject of this brief notice, Mrs. Mattie A. JENKINS, nee SWEATT, was born in the state of Mississippi, November 9, 1860; was married in her native state December 22, 1889, to Mr. R. M. JENKINS, and shortly afterward with her husband, came to Texas,settling in Beeville, which was her home up to the time of her death, which occurred April 15, 1903. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church from childhood, and by her daily life testified to the reality of the religion she professed. She leaves a husband, four children, an aged father, two brothers and three sisters to mourn her death. The writer was present when the change came. During her illness she had suffered much and the pain had left its mark, but as her soul was departing her face did shine and a halo of glory was upon it One standing by exclaimed "Oh, how beautiful."
