KRING, Jacob, Beeville Weekly Picayune, Friday, 13 Nov 1896, page 8: Papalote Pointers Sunday evening, after a lingering illness of over eighteen months, Mr. Jacob Kring passed into the long sleep from which there is no waking. Mr. Kring was one of the old settlers of San Patricio County, having lived in the county for nearly thirty-five years. He was born at Nansan on the Rhine in Germany, January 13, 1837, and left an orphan in infancy. He was brought to this country in 1844 and was adopted by Mrs. Corrigan of Victoria. In 1847 he was stolen by Thomas Welder and in 1849 was captured by a band of Comanche Indians, but was recaptured and restored to Mr. Welder by Andrew Walker, captain of a band of rangers. He lived with Mr. Welder until he reached manhood, when he went into the cattle business for himself. In 1861 he married Adaline Curbello. He was a Confederate soldier in the late war, and since the war he has been engaged in farming and stock raising. Mr. Kring was an honorable, honest citizen and esteemed by all who knew him. He was the father of eight children. His wife and six children, all grown men, are left to mourn his loss. His wife and four boys were with him when the Death Angel came. He was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at Papalote Tuesday, November 10th. To the afflicted ones, in this, their dark hour, we tender our sympathy.
