KUBALA, Valentine, Beeville Bee-Picayune, Thursday, 12 Jan 1939: Former Central Farmer Died at Home Tuesday. Funeral services for Valentine Kubala, 75, well known Beeville resident who died at his home Tuesday morning, January 10, were held at the family home in Beeville, Wednesday afternoon, January 11. Rev. Sam B. Hill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church in Beeville officiated at the funeral services at the home while members of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge, of which Mr. Kubala had been the only surviving charter member, were in charge of services at the grave in Glenwood. Active pallbearers were Paul Treptow, Sid B. Malone, Will Koether, J. P. Nedbalek, P. J. Mikeska, Ted Sigmund, Charles Peters and James Doubrava. The Galloway Mortuary was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Ill and in a serious condition for 10 days, Mr. Kubala's death came as a shock to the family and acquaintances. Born in Fayette county, Texas, February 12, 1863, the son of Andrew and Vronica (Jurena) Kubala, he married to Teresie Holub at Dubina, Fayette County, January 22, 1884. Five years later they moved to Bee County, making their home in the Central Community. In 1919 the family moved to Beeville. Surviving are two sons, Ed and Willie E. Kubala of Beeville; six daughters, Miss Angie Kubala, Mrs. Sid Malone, Mrs. Will Koeher, Mrs. James Doubrava and Mrs. P. W. Treptow, all of Beeville and Mrs. Ted Sigmund of Orange Grove; a brother, John J. Kubala of Louise, Wharton County; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
