LAWLEY, E., Beeville Bee, Friday, 3 Jan 1902: Death of E. LAWLEY E. LAWLEY, a resident of this section for over forty years, and a veteran of the war between the states, died at his home in this city on December 26, 1901. The deceased was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, April 6th 1840, and grew to manhood's estate in that vicinity. After the civil war, in which he took an honorable part, he removed with his family to Texas, settling in Gonzales County, and after a few years residence there moved to Live Oak County where he resided until coming to Beeville in 1888. Besides his wife, nine children survive him. Mr. Lawley was a communicant of the Presbyterian Church for many years and up to the time of his last illness an active and consistent member of the Masonic fraternity. The funeral occurred at Oakville on December 27th, his remains being accompanied there by a deputation from the Beeville Lodge, who were assisted by members of the Oakville lodge in rendering appropriate honors to the dead.
