LAWLEY, Mrs. Florence, Beeville Bee, Friday, 1 Feb 1907: Mrs. Florence LAWLEY, a well-known nurse of this city and widow of E. Lawley, an old citizen of this section, died Sunday morning after a lingering illness, covering several months. The funeral took place Monday from the family residence, attended by a large number of friends, interment being in the new cemetery. The deceased had just two days before passed her fortieth birthday, and was a native of Rankin County, Mississippi, where her people are among the best that section affords. Her father, Capt. W. J. STEEN, who lost an arm in the Confederate service and who still survives her, was for many years district clerk of this county, being elected without opposition until age caused him to decline further re-elections. In 1886, the subject of this sketch was united in marriage with Mr. E. Lawley and has since made her home in Texas, her husband dying in 1901. Mrs. Lawley took up the profession of nursing to which she was especially adapted by her kind and sympathetic disposition and successfully pursued it until ill health about a year ago cause her to relinquish it. In the hope of restoring her health she spent the past summer in Fort Davis, but finding no relief returned several months ago to await the end among her friends and relatives. To mourn her loss is a son, and several stepsons and stepdaughters, her aged father, six sisters and two brothers, all of the latter being residents of Mississippi.
