MARTIN, Thos., Beeville Bee, 5 Feb 1904:

Thos. MARTIN, an old citizen of the county, aged 85 years, died Wednesday at the 
home of his son on the Yorktown road. He was a native of Ireland and came to Texas 
in the early fifties when the county seat was at old Marysville on the Medio.

In the days of sheepraising he had quite a large flock and acquired a very nice ranch 
ten or fifteen miles north west of town. For several years just after the war he held a 
commission as Postmaster at Beeville, having been a noncombatant in the civil strife 
and the only man in the county entitled to suffrage under the rigid measures of 
reconstruction.
