MUCKLEROY, Mrs. Sarah C., Beeville Bee, Friday, 24 Aug 1906: In the death of Mrs. Sarah C. MUCKLEROY, which occurred on last Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. THOMPSON in Eddy, there was removed from life one to whom indeed the title of "a mother of Israel" might be applied. She had attained the remarkable long life of eighty-five years, eight months and twenty-two days and her memory covered more than half the history of the nation. A native of Georgia, she was united in marriage to Anthony Muckleroy of Tennessee and with him settled in Austin County in 1853, while Texas was yet young as a commonwealth. The period of their married life was more than sixty years and she survived him but two years. Her husband was a veteran of the Seminole War, and hers was the experience of the pioneer. In 1890 they moved to Bee County where she resided until about a year ago when she moved to Nacogdoches with Robert, her youngest son, with whom in later years she has made her home. At the time of her death she was on a visit with her daughter. She leaves six children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren to revere her memory. The remains arrived here Sunday morning and were carried to the Methodist Church where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. F. WEBB, the internment taking place in the new cemetery by the side of her husband.
