NUTT, R. E. Sr., Beeville Bee or Picayune, Friday, 15 Nov 1912: R. E. NUTT, Sr., Dead Pioneer of Bee County Passes Away at Wichita Falls, Resident in Bee County, Fifty Years. R. E. NUTT, Sr., died last Monday evening at his home in Wichita Falls after an illness extending several weeks. His remains arrived in Beeville Wednesday afternoon and were taken to the home of his son, R. E. Nutt, Jr., where they peacefully reposed until yesterday afternoon when they were laid to rest in the New Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the Masonic Lodge of which he was an old member and was attended by almost the entire citizenship. The deceased was in his eighty-fourth years, fifty of which he spent in Bee County when the country was yet in a premature state of wilderness. He persevered and to his due a big part of the credit for the fertile prosperous county that has taken the place of the Bee County of long ago. He was loved and respected by everyone he knew and his death is mourned throughout Southwest Texas.
