PETTUS, Mattie, Beeville Bee, Thursday, 26 Apr 1888

The many friends of Miss Mattie Pettus deeply regret to learn of her death which occurred at the 
St. Leonard Hotel in San Antonio at 12:30 last Monday morning.  She has suffered most mutely 
for months past and has borne her suffering with true Christian fortitude and patience.  She was 
buried in the old cemetery on the San Antonio River last Tuesday, followed to her last resting 
place by many sorrowing friends and relatives.
