POWELL, Mrs. E. A., Beeville Bee, Friday, 16 Oct 1903: Messrs. L N. and W. J. POWELL were called to Rockport last Friday by the news of the serious illness of their mother, Mrs. E. A. POWELL, an old citizen of that vicinity. Before they reached her bedside however, she had passed away. Mrs. POWELL was a native of Alabama, having been born in that state on April 16, 1818 and was consequently in her 86th year of age. She was married in 1833 to S. G. POWELL, whom she survived 16 years. Their married life covered a period of 54 years. In 1841 she and her husband moved from Alabama to the state of Arkansas, where she lived for 14 years, immigrating to Texas in 1855 and settling in Fannin County where they lived 3 years and then moved to Johnson County and residing until 186? when they removed to Rockport, where her husband died in 1887. The Messrs. Powells are the only surviving children, the only daughter Mrs. J. H. HOFFMAN, dying in Rockport in 1891.
