PRATHER, Mrs. R. M., Beeville Picayune, 27 Sep 1912, front page: Succumbs To Burns. Lingering and suffering a week after being seriously burned in an accident at the Marsden garage, an account of which appeared in these columns last week, Mrs. R. M. Prather died at the Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock and the remains were brought to Beeville on the noon train yesterday and laid to rest in the new cemetery at four p.m. One of the largest crowds ever attending a funeral in Beeville was present at the service at the residence and followed the remains to the cemetery. Rev. E. H. Hudson of the Presbyterian Church, pastor of the deceased was in charge of the service while Miss. Merle HEARN contributed a touching vocal solo and a special choir rendered several numbers at the house and also at the cemetery. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, a silent testimonial of the love and esteem in which Mrs. Prather was held by the neighborhood friends. Mrs. Prather was forty-one years of age and had resided here with her husband about three years, during which time she had endeared herself to a large circle of friends who are pained at her sudden and untimely death and whose deepest sympathy go out to the grief stricken husband and five little children. After receiving the burns Mrs. Prather was treated here until Monday when after showing signs of growing worse she was taken on the night train to San Antonio and all that could be done for her was done by skilled physicians and nurses but the burns which covered two thirds of her body were too serious and she succumbed just a week from the time of the accident almost to the hour. Dr. Prather (dentist) being out of the city this morning having left last night to have his hand treated for blood poison, we are unable to give a more complete account of Mrs. Prather's life.
