Rees, well known citizen of Beeville for thirty-one years, died at his home, 501 East Corpus Christi Street, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He had been ill for several months and during the last three weeks it was known that he would not recover, his death being expected daily. Chronic Nephrites was the cause of death. Funeral Services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. Father Dan Laning, Rector officiated. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers were, J. S. HALL, J. W. BROWN. J. T. O'REILLY, Sheriff Eugene McCOLLOM, I. A. DIEGEL, John BURKE, John R. BEASLEY, and Ike ADAMS. Asa Fleming Rees was born in Colorado County, Texas, November 9, 1867. He resided there until he reached maturity, and then moved to Yoakum where he lived for ten years. In l892 he was married to Miss Sophia Moser of Sublime. Mr. and Mrs. Rees moved to Beeville in 1900 and have resided here every since. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rees; four of whom survive their father. Forest was killed in an airplane accident here 10 years ago. The surviving children are Errol and Warren and Mrs. Alvin Brauer and Miss Nona Rees, all of this city. His wife also survives him. Other surviving relatives are two brothers, Stafford Rees of this city and J. Thomas Rees of Sublime and one sister, Mrs. W. H. Martin of San Antonio. Mr. Rees was baptized in the Catholic Church about a month and half ago. The funeral was largely attended and many beautiful flowers were placed upon his grave by devout friends of the deceased. At the church, Rev. Father Laning delivered in a few words one of the most beautiful funeral sermons ever heard in Beeville, a message of love and comfort.
