ROAN, Eddie Byron, Sr., Beeville Bee-Picayune, 26 Apr 1945, page 8 : Eddie Byron Roan, Sr. Funeral services for Eddie ROAN, Sr. of Skidmore, age 63 years, one month and 21 days, are to be held at Galloway Mortuary this afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. S. B. Beall, pastor of the Skidmore Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Roan died suddenly in Skidmore, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock following a heart attack. The pallbearers will be Jack Linney, A. H. Spiekerman, Hugh Spiekerman, J. D. Vasey, Oscar Fox, and R. C. Blaschke. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Roan was born March 3, 1882, in Pulaski, Tennessee, a son of William T. and Alsenio Roan. He was married to Miss. Ida Oregon Poe in Commerce Texas, September 1899. Eight children were born to this union, four of whom with their mother survive . They are: Mrs. W. H. Rylant, Skidmore; Joe L. Roan, Houston; Mrs. Bessie Roan Anding. Rosebud; and Eddie Byron of Skidmore. Mr. Roan also is survived by 2 brothers; W. T. Roan of Commerce and Ed Roan of Lubbock; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Milford, Commerce, Mrs. Lou Hoover of Newlin; Mrs. Minnie Poe, Commerce, and Mrs. Currie Amis, Emory and eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren. Mr. Roan has been a member of the Methodist Church since early youth.
