ROAN, Joe Lewis, Beeville Bee-Picayune, Thursday, 3 Mar 1977, page 2 : Joe L. Roan Funeral services for Joe Lewis Roan, 72, were held yesterday at 3 P. M. in Galloway and Sons Chapel. Peggy Sugarek played the organ and sang "In The Garden", and "How Great Thou Art." Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Roan died Monday evening in Beeville Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Commerce on August 27, 1904, the son of Ida (Poe) and Eddie Byron Roan. He had resided in Skidmore for the past thirty years and was a road contractor. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Jerry McLaren and Mrs. David Carter, both of Houston, one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Rylant of Skidmore, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
