ROBINSON, Tommie Lee, Beeville Bee, Friday, 8 May 1903: A Sad Accident One of the saddest accidents that ever occurred in this part of Bee County, happened last Thursday evening about 5 o'clock, when little Tommie Lee ROBINSON, the five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave ROBINSON, living on the CHITTIM & MILLER ranch, was accidentally drowned in the large irrigation tank near the ranch house. It seems that he was playing around where Mr. C. E BECKNER was working and with some other children during the afternoon wandered off by himself, accompanied only by Mr. Millet's bird dog, and was last seen running around the edge of the tank. His father was the first to see him floating on the water at about 6 o'clock when he was coming to the house. Mr. Robinson called for help as the body was out near the middle of the tank. Dr. BLACKBURN was sent for at once but he could do nothing, as the body had been in the water too long. A bruise was found on the side of his head, indicating that in falling into the tank, which has a concrete bottom, he must have hit on his head hard enough to stun him, as Mr. Beckner, who was only about 30 feet away heard no outcry whatsoever. He had to fall about five feet before striking the water. The funeral took place Friday and was attended by the whole community. The parents have the heartfelt Sympathy of all who know them.
