ROGERS, Lieuen, Beeville Bee, Thursday, 1 Nov 1888: News reached here Tuesday of the death of one of the oldest, best known and most loved citizens of S. W. Texas, Judge Lieuen Rogers, of Refugio, which event occurred on Monday the 29th, ult. Judge Rogers has been identified with Texas affairs since an early day, having served in the Mexican War, been in the early Ranger service and the war between the states on the Confederate side. In a civil capacity he served in the 13th Legislature, the first Democratic Legislature after the reconstruction, and since 1876 has filled the office of county judge of Refugio county. The news of his death will cause much regret over this section.
