SIKES, G. F., Beeville Bee, Friday, 14 Dec 1906: G. F. SIKES, the well known farmer residing several miles west of town, who has been bed-ridden for two months past, died last Sunday, his interment taking place Monday in the new cemetery. The deceased had shortly before, entered his 66th year and had been a citizen of the county since 1901, moving here from Gonzales County, where he had grown from youth to manhood. He was a native of Pensacola, Florida, having moved to Texas when a boy with his parents who were among the early immigrants to Gonzales. He was the father of sixteen children, thirteen of whom survive him, his wife having died in 1903. Among his acquaintances, Mr. Sikes was known as an honest and industrious man and his death is a source of regret among his many friends.
