SMITH, Mrs. Lugana, Beeville Bee, Friday, 6 Sep 1901: Died at the home of her son, Commissioner Louis. M. SMITH, near Mineral City, on Saturday, August 31, 1902 at 9 p. m., Mrs. Lugana Smith, in the 81st year of her age. The deceased was a native of Alabama and born May 23,1821, her parents being among the pioneer settlers of that state. In 1854, with her husband, Thos. J. SMITH, she moved to Texas and settled in Guadalupe County where they lived until 1860, when they moved to Bee County, her husband dying here May 27,1874. Seven children survive her: Mrs. Mary E. LANCASTER of Guadalupe County, Mrs. A. J. LANCASTER, of San Antonio, William M. SMITH of Beeville, Louis M. SMITH, of Mineral, Mrs. S. R. TAYLOR of Beeville, Mrs. J. F. RAY and Maggie SMITH, of Pettus. The funeral took place Sunday evening from the residence of Mr. W. M. Smith, religious services being conduced by Rev. W. T. RENFRO, and the interment being made in the old cemetery.
