SMITH, W. A., Beeville Bee, Friday, 12 Jun 1903:

W. A. SMITH, the aged father of Mrs. Lee LONG, was found dead in bed at the 
home of his son-in-law Thursday morning. 

He had been ill for several months from an infection of the heart, and while his 
death was sudden it was not unexpected. The deceased was a native of Tennessee 
and in his 73rd year of age. Up to a few months ago he had been a resident of 
Austin County, coming here in the hope the climate would benefit his health. 

The funeral took place yesterday, interment being in the new cemetery.
