STOVALL, William Benjamin, Beeville Bee, Friday, 6 Mar 1908: W. B. STOVALL. After an illness extending over a week, William Benjamin STOVALL, passed away Saturday, February 29, 1908 at the residence of his son-in-law, N. B. WALKER, the angel of death taking his soul to its eternal home at 7:AM. Severe case of lagrippe, with a complication of diseases was the cause of his death, which came in his 70th year, eleven days after his birthday. Born in Talladega County, Alabama, William Benjamin Stovall moved as an infant with his parents to Mississippi and when a youth went with his parents to Winfield, Louisiana, later joining the Louisiana regiment and serving throughout the war, often being in the thickest of the fight, coming out with a record for bravery and was fortunate enough not to have been wounded. He was married to Miss Minerva COLLIER, in 1857 and in 1865 came with her to Texas, returning to his regiment and serving until the war closed, when he joined his wife and settled in McClellan County. Later he moved to Hays, then Guadalupe and lastly to Bee County, settling here in 1890. He was the father of eleven children, seven of whom are living, three having died in infancy and the eldest son, Rev. Jno. W. Stovall preceding him to the great beyond about two years ago. His wife died in 1883. The children living are: S. P. Stovall, Rumens County; A. M. Stovall and Mrs. N. B. WALKER, Beeville; H. J. Stovall, Cuba; Mrs. P. S. JACKSON, Falls County; and Mrs. Lillie of Miles. Of these, all save Mrs. Jackson and H. J. Stovall were in attendance to the funeral services, which were held at the new (Glenwood) cemetery, Sunday afternoon at 6 o'clock, Rev. I. T. Morris performing the last sad rites. Mr. Stovall was the only child of his parents, and had been a faithful member of the Methodist church since 32 years of age.
