STURDEVANT, Robert J., Beeville Bee, Friday, 22 Oct 1903:

Robert J. STURDEVANT died at his residence in the southern part of the city on Monday morning 
at 4 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks. The deceased was in his fifty-first year and had been a 
resident of Beeville for the past three years, coming here for the benefit of his health from Upshur 
county where he had been tax assessor for a number of years. 

He was a member of the Woodsmen of the World and his funeral occurred Monday evening under 
the direction of that order, the interment taking place in the new cemetery. A wife and seven children 
survive him, to whom the sympathy of the community was evidenced in the large attendance upon 
the funeral and in many expressions of condolence in their bereavement.
