THORNTON, Mrs. P. R., Beeville Bee, Friday, 24 May 1907: At a little after 8 o'clock Saturday morning, May 18th, the long illness of Mrs. P. R. THORNTON, borne with patience and fortitude, was terminated. Mrs. Thornton lacked twenty-two days of being fifty years of age and had been an invalid for many years. She was a native of Mississippi, where she grew to womanhood and married. A few short years of wedded happiness and she was left a widow. One son, Paul however was left to comfort her and to minister to her in the long invalidism of those last years. After the death of her husband, with her sisters, she moved to Arkansas and later to Texas, settling at Cuero in 1890. Fifteen years ago they moved to Beeville where they have since resided. Besides her son, there are left to keep green her memory, four sisters, Mrs. W. W. MILLER, of Cuero, Mrs. W. W. McCAMPBELL of San Diego, Mrs. J. S. DAVIS, and Miss Anna HIGGINBOTHAM of Beeville. The funeral occurred on Sunday morning at the family residence and the interment in the old cemetery. Rev. J. M. Sallee of the Baptist Church of which denomination deceased was a member, conducted the services.
