William Mitchell TRUXAW, owner of the Truxaw Lumber Company, died from a heart attack in a local hospital Monday Morning at 11 o'clock. He was 61 years old. Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Walter W. Lipp, Pastor, conducting the rites. The funeral was under the direction of Walker Funeral Home. Internment was in Glenwood Cemetery. The Pallbearers were E. C. Whiddon, Joe B. Case, C. L. Cox, Sr., Charlie Swift, Warren Yyoung, Earl Lehman, L. C. Morris and Cyrus Fox. W. M. Truxaw was born in Odell, Nebraska, September 19, 1886. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Truxaw, both of whom are deceased. When he was 23 years old he moved to Texas and settled at Crosby, where he became the first President of Crosby State Bank. While living in Crosby, Mr. Truxaw married Miss Amanda Clarence Hare and to this union one son and two daughters were born. Mr. Truxaw was engaged in the grocery business in Crosby. Later he organized and operated the telephone exchange in Goose Creek, Pelly and Baytown. He also installed the water works system in Ingleside shortly before moving to Beeville in 1933. Mr. Truxaw was a member of the Methodist Church for many years. His most outstanding characteristics were his devotion to his family and loyalty to his friends. Mr. Truxaw is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Gray and Mrs. B. M. McNeill, a son, William Mitchell Truxaw, Jr.; a grandson, W. M. Truxaw, III, all of Beeville and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kruger of Odell, Nebraska and Mrs. Mae Thrall of New Mexico.
