UZELL, Loma, Beeville Bee, Friday, 9 Oct 1903: Loma UZZELL, the 3 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. UZZELL, died at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. A. F. COX, Monday night from blood poisoning caused from the bite of an insect two weeks ago. It was playing in the yard of the UZZELL home on Salt Branch one afternoon when it came to its mother and complained of having struck a splinter in its foot. On examination no wound could be found but the member begian swelling immediately and in a few days gangrene set in. For better medical treatment the little one was brought to the home of the grandmother's in Beeville, but the malady had gained such headway nothing could be done to prevent its course. The interment took place on Tuesday in the Salt Branch cemetery.
