WILLIAMS, Clinton, Beeville Weekly Picayune, Thursday, 29 Aug 1895, page 5: OBITUARY The subject of this brief sketch, Clinton Williams, was born near Raleigh, N. C., June 15, 1814, and died at the residence of his son-in-law, W. J. Powell, in this city July 30, 1895. He moved with his parents while a boy to Alabama, where, in early life, he professed religion and joined the Methodist church, of which he ever remained a faithful, consistent member. After becoming of age, he went to Mississippi, where he remained only a short time. Returning to Alabama, he married Nancy E. Burgess March 30, 1847. He moved to Texas in 1862. He was the father of 10 children, seven of whom lived to be grown, four sons and three daughters. His sons are T. C. Williams, of Bee, H. L. Williams, of McMullen, C. H. and J. S. Williams, of San Patricio county. Mrs. W. J. Powell and Miss Lula Williams still live. Mrs. I. N. Powell died May 30, 1894. His wife died at Mineral City March '87. Mr. Williams was a good citizen, a loving husband, an indulgent father, and a Christian gentleman. His end was peace. A Friend.
