Victoria.  The news has just reached here of the death of John Y. Pettus, son of Mr. & Mrs. W. A. Pettus 
at their home in Goliad County, which occurred this morning at 7 o’clock.  

The funeral will occur tomorrow morning in the family burial grounds on the San Antonio River near the 
Pettus home.  This was virtually his home up to a few years ago where the first symptoms of the dread 
malady appeared, since which time he had been in west Texas and California and everything possible 
was being done to prolong his life.  

He was 27 years old yesterday.
