I have been searching for a long lost uncle, Thomas Hanlon, for
decades and recently found a handwritten note by an ancestor indicating
he had gone to San Antonio, Texas (from Iowa) and died there at
the age of 24, which would have been around 1893 or so.
Obviously, Id love to find any documents or a grave, but am also
curious what was going on in San Antonio around 1893?
Thank you so much.

2) I am trying to find out info on my grandfather Joaquin Landin

He had two sons: Manuel Arcos Dominguez and Joaquin Arcos Dominguez
both of which were born in Hondo. He was going to be deported back
to Mexico until my father, his oldest son, took papers to show that
he had children living in San Antonio and that he was married here
and here legally. I do not know where to look for these records.
Would love to know more. All are deceased so no questions can be

am looking for any information on my great Uncle, Perry Reece Wilkinson,

Reese, or Reese could come first and Perry second. Nonetheless,
he was my grandfather's twin brother who was born in 1888 in Parker,
Texas. My father tells me that his uncle had epilepsy and his seizures
were so severe an unpredictable that Perry Reece was placed in a
state home until his death at around the age of 33. My father said
that my uncle was in the Abilene State School at one time, but Abilene
has no records of him ever being there. I did locate a social security
death certificate for a R.R. Wilkinson who died on February 12,
1921 at the age of 33 in Bexar County, Texas. The Death certificate
numbers are either #3374 or #13860. I am wanting information about
where the state school in San Antonio or Bexar County buried their
deceased residents at that time. My father really wants to find
his grave so that we can give him some type of headstone and at
least know where he is buried at.
Any information you have is appreciated.

I am researching the family of Benjamin Thomas jr., the son of Benjamin
Thomas Sr. and Mary Ann Dickinson. He was born in 1806, North Carolina.
He settled in San Augustine around 1823. In 1838/39 he married Martha
Engledow in Nacogdoches County, Texas. She died as a young mother
in the 1840's. They had three children: William S., Martha Angelina,
and Oscar E. Thomas.
Benjamin moved to Hays County and then to Bexar County, where I
have 2 dates for a marriage to Penelope Wheeler. He is reported
to have had a ranch some 15 to 20 miles outside of San Antonio.
I need to confirm which of these years are correct: May 12, 1844
or May 12 ,1848?
Benjamin and Penelope had nine children together, with 6 living
to adulthood. Benjamin died in 1891/92, reportedly on his ranch.
He was a member of the Texas Veterans Association at that time.
I do not know where he was buried, but it is reported that he had
a military marker for his service at the Battle of San Jacinto.
Is there an index of the where military markers are placed? Penelope
died in 1915. I am trying to locate where this couple might have
been buried.
Benjamin Thomas was a merchant, a traveling merchant. He spent much
time back and forth to Mexico. He might have lived in Mexico at
times. Two of his daughters with Penelope Wheeler, Laura and little
Penelope, were born in Mexico. Benjamin and Penelope had children:
Benjamin F., Laura Jane, Mary Ann, Penelope Ann, Almeda Ruth, Sophronia
Ellen, Lillie, and an unknown child who died young.

I am researching my Great Grandmother Louise GERSBACH. She, her
father Salomon and her brother Julius were in San Antonio circa
1874-1881. I have record of them being in LA in 1873 and St Louis
in 1884, but I have no proof of where Louise and Salomon were between
those dates. I do have proof taht Julius worked at a store called
Wolfson's and I have found him in a few directories for San Antonio.
He stayed in TX and raised a family. Louise and her father left
Texas and came to St Louis. Family lore says that Louise became
pregnant by a married man in Texas. From that she had a daughter
Ida, born 20 Jun 1881. Now, for a long time I thought Ida's surname
was Gersbach, but have now obtained several documents that show
her last name as ... WOLFSON. Hmmmmm. Her death certificate goes
so far as to include her father's first name "Sol". I have found
reference to a Sol Wolfson in Texas - connected to a Wolfson store
as well - whom I think is connected to the Wolfson House in San
Antonio.
Now, a few St Louis city directories show Louise GERSBACH as widow
of Saul (or Sol). In addition one census states her first married
was in 1879, though she married my Great-Grandfather is 1885 and
we have no knowledge of another marriage. While Ida is said to have
been born in St Louis, I can find no birth certificate.
So I would like suggestion on:
1) How to find any records to confirm Louise and Salomon GERSBACH
were in San Antonio
2) How to confirm if a marriage did exist between Louise and Sol
WOLFSON
3) How to see if perhaps Ida was really born in Texas instead of
St Louis.
4) How to confirm if Sol Wolfson the store owner was really Ida's
father.
I am from St Louis, but currently living in London, so would appreciate
any help you could offer.

I recently accessed the 1870 Bexar County census in the hope of
finding the following relatives:
Elizabeth or Sarah WALLACE
Frank or Francis WALLACE
Caroline Matilda WALLACE
They are listed in the 1860 census as follows:
Film 805288 -- Bexar county,TX 23 July 1860--page 320, dwelling
2537, family 2424
On 20 March 1866 Sarah bought a lot on Pecan Street where she lived
until she died, so it appears that she should be listed on the census.
I found Jane COLE (a married daughter) listed with her family but
found no trace of the WALLACE family. In the 1891 directory, there
is a Jane COLE listed as having a Boarding House at 17 and 19 Pecan
Street. (Sarah died in 1879 and is buried in City Cemetery #1)
I have checked every name on the 1870 census in Bexar County and
could not find one that I thought could be a variation of WALLACE
that would be the family above. Does anyone have anything that might
help me understand or resolve this issue?

I have an old death certificate for my great great grandfather dated
April 16, 1889, which says that the name of the cemetery where he
was buried was "City", that the funeral home was "Fayette Co." and
that the place of death was "Ward 3". Can you tell me anything about
these 3 items?
Which graveyard does "City" indicate? Was there ever a "Fayette

If you can answer any of these questions, I would be appreciate

where he was working as a barber. The time frame was early 1900.
I have not found a Charles Baker working as a barber anywhere in
San Antonio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My great, grandfather was murdered in San Antonio in 1889. I understand
there were newspaper articles written about this murder in the San
Antonio Express on 4/14 and 4/17/1889 and in the San Antonio Light
on 4/16 and 4/17/1889. Can you give me any idea how I might go about
getting copies of these articles? Thanks

I have spoken with and corresponded with county offices etc and
too which I guess persons don't think they should respond to me,
so thats why I am contacting you.
Some of my ancestors lived in San Antonio Bexar County, 1905-1920's,
there were marriages, divorces, deaths and burials in San Antonio,
but the places I contacted just wouldn't respond to the requests.
Trying esppecially to locate marriage for: Charles or Charlemagne
E. Javins married Grace Alford 1910-1911 in San Antonio. Burial
records for Salena Arene Mcpherson Hart 1915. Buried Mission Park
burial ground, Grace Javins/Javens daughter of the above mentioned
Javens died 1912 San Antonio. Also buried Mission Burial Park.
What I am trying to find out on burials is who bought the burial
plots and have they been maintained by any family members over the
years.
Mission Park refused to help me with this info. Also wrote to courthouse
several times and they never responded to the requests.
It has been very depressing in trying to locate the above records/info
hope that you can help/suggest some other means or know of someone
who could obtain this info for me.
Your help/sugesstions will be most appreciated. Thanks so very much.

I am looking for the death date of my great grandmother Catherine

then was not shown in the 1900 census with her husband and children.
I have a picture of her and her youngest daughter was about 6 or

Catherine died between about 1893 and 1900, Her husband was Rufus
Coleman and her parents were Solomon Ford and Rebecca Moffett Ford.

I am looking for any information about Ruby Odell Earnest, born
Nov. 19, 1913 in Fannin Co., TX. He was born to Robert Dallas and
May L. Davis EARNEST. May Davis was the second wife of Robert Dallas
and there were supposedly other children born to them. One was a
daughter named Ada or Addie and would also be interested in any
information about her. Odell applied for his Social Security number
is Bexar Co. and SSDI records indicate he died there March 1, 1976.
Did he marry, and if so, who? Did he have children, thus any descendants?
Am interested in any information about him. Thank you.
