PANNILL
William Martin PANNILL died in Bexar County on August 31, 1910 at the S.W. Insane Asylum. Family history says he was originally from Fort Worth and was sent to San Antonio to an insane asylum because he suffered migraine headaches due to a head injury. Does anyone have record of a Southwest Insane Asylum. Does it still exist? William PANNILL or his wife and children don't appear to be on the 1910 census for Bexar or Tarrant Counties. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be very appreciated. Thank you, Sailers

DUQUE
I am looking for the lineage of my grandmother Polly DUQUE CLARK. She was born in Laredo to Mexican parents: Meliton DUQUE ESQUEDA and Ildefonsa LUNA. Her paternal grandfather was named Pomposo DUQUE. My grandmother wrote in her notes that "he" died at my grandparent's home, 2923 Saunders Ave. (in San Antonio). I'm not sure if "he" was my g-grandfather, g-g-grandfather, or both. My grandmother's mother died when Polly was very young; and was raised by her father, her grandfather and her spinster aunts (her father's sisters): Lucia, Teresa, Juanita and Virginia. Any information on any of these people, especially birth dates, dates of death, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Milton Clark

ARCINIEGA
Looking for information on origins of ARCINIEGA surname in San Antonio. Wife's ancestor was Dolores ARCINIEGA (born about 1810), who married Crescencio LEAL (about 1830). They had several children, the first two of which are reported in the baptism records of San Fernando Cathedral in 1831 and 1834. I find the ARCINIEGA surname in the records as soldiers in the San Carlos (OR ALAMO) de Parras unit which occupied the former mission San Antonio de Valero after 1803 (giving it the name "Alamo"), but have not been able to make any definite connections. Jose Miguel de ARCINIEGA was a legislator, military explorer, and Alcalde of San Antonio in the period 1816-1839, and has an interesting piece in the Handbook of Texas (perhaps Dolores' brother?). There is also an ARCINIEGA Street just south of La Villita. Is anyone out there working on ARCINIEGA genealogy? If so, please contact me . Thanks.. Chris Kneupper

CLARK
I am trying to find specifics about my grandfather, William Lee CLARK, born April 24, 1903, in Menard, Tx., (although one document claims April 24, 1883), died Feb. 18, 1954 in San Antonio, Tx. And is buried at Fort Sam Houston cemetery. He was born to Willie Lee CLARK and Frances Jane SIMMONS, with siblings: Marion (M), Myrtle, and Frank, At some point they relocated to the Austin area. I think Frank died many years after my grandfather (died?) in the San Antonio area. William (a.k.a. Willie) married Polly DUQUE (born Jan. 7, 1907, Laredo, Tx. died May 6, 1999) in San Antonio sometime around 1930 and was disowned for marrying a Mexican woman. We have no records for that side of the family. Children included: Milton Lee, born Nov. 30, 1931; Willie Lee Jr. born Oct. 4, 1934, died 1974; Joseph Lee, born Dec. 4, 1935, died Sept. 15, 1973; Francis Jane, died age about 6 or 7; Ronald Roland, born Feb. 27, 1947; Anthony Roy, born 1948 died May, 1999. What birth date does my grandfather's obituary have? (Menard, Tx. does not have any records of the family. What was the birth date and date of death of my aunt, Frances Jane? Thank you for any help... Milton Clark

Tom JONES came to St. Clair from the same county in Ohio as Elijah but I have not established a relationship between the two men. I would like to correspond with anyone researching the JONES or MURPHY family lines that connect to Franklin Co., MO.. Thanks ... Sue Cooley

DELAHO, DE LA HO, DELAO
Researching DELAHO, DE LA HO, DELAO family surnames. Macimo De La Ho, born 1842 and migrated with his wife (Genoveva?)Hjenoveva Flores from Tamaulipas, Mexico. It is believed that they had (3) children; Jesse F., Peter F., and Frank somewhere between Oklahoma and San Antonio, TX. The 1910 census for San Antonio, states he was 68 years old and married to Pomposa! Because the rest of Hjenoveva's story ends with her name, it is further believed he was married (3) times for the 1910 census also indicates "M3". Jesse moved to California where he had family, but information is sketchy. Peter remained in Texas and Frank went to New York where no further information has become available. Any and all relative information would be greatly appreciated for I am researching from New England. Any information can be directed to my email address. Hoping to hear from someone. P. Dawley

HOME FOR UNWED MOTHERS
I am trying to locate a Catholic Organization. Around 1951, there was a home by the name of Heavenly Haven (or New Haven...something along those lines) Home for Unwed Mothers in San Antonio or around Central Bexar County. It was run by Catholic nuns. From what I understand, it was either under that name or the locals knew it by that name. Also, some of those who came from there said that it was affiliated with a specific church (name unknown) and that the nuns had numerous orphans to take care of that they formed this home. I am told that it closed down a couple of years after 1951. I cannot locate any information on this home. I desperately need it. My mother was adopted and was told she came from there. Any information would be appreciated.. Thank you. Lisa Truesdale

ENGELS, PANTUSA
This is an update on my original query posting on ENGELS, - Volume 20 posted in June, 1999. I would like information on two brothers. Franz ENGELS born May 2, 1908 in Arienforf, Rheinland, Germany and Mathias ENGELS born April 29, 1907 in Hoenningen, Rheinland, Germany. They emigrated to Texas separately sometime between 1925 and 1930. First to emigrate was Mathias and then two or three years later came his brother Franz. My g-grandmother, Anna Maria SAHS, BUECHNER, DOEPPENSCHMIDT of New Braunfels, sponsored both brothers. According to each brother's Social Security application form, their parents were Kaspar ENGELS and Anna Maria SAHS. My g-grandmother, Anna Maria SAHS is old enough to be the brother's grandmother and she and my g-grandfather Wilhelm BUECHNER had been living in Texas since 1881. The brothers called g-grandmother, Aunt. Also, one more strange twist is that the mother of my g-grandmother is Elisabeth ENGELS. So, I don't know at this time that they are related. The SS forms shows the two brothers lived and worked in San Antonio. My father said that in 1935, Mathias was working for the Pearl Brewing Company and he attended my parent's wedding. Franz, according to my father, married Rose PANTUSA of San Antonio. Franz and Mathias also were skilled iron workers, schooled in Germany. I believe at one time, they worked at Alamo Iron Works. Together they built the ornamental iron art work that was displayed in the lobby of the Majestic Theater in downtown San Antonio. Seeing the display as a boy, I remembered it to be huge in size. I would appreciate any information on Franz and Mathias ENGELS. Charles Buchner

My grandfather's name is Jose Arturo LEAL, born 1923 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. His father's name was Francisco LEAL, born between 1895 and 1901. His mother's name was Juana MALDONADO. Apparently a Caddo Indian. Stories that have been passed down are that we have a royal lineage and that we were Spainards. So what I am trying to find, is information from 1820 until 1923 to find a connection somewhere. Jose Antonio LEAL has always been brought up in our family genealogy talks as being the one who came here originally. But I don't know if he was Francisco's father. MARSHALL
I have been looking for two names in Bexar County. Ruby MARSHALL was listed in the 1931, 1932 and 1933 San Antonio phone directory as a domestic. On Sept. 1, 1934, she gave birth to a son and named him Johnie Lewis Kenneth MARSHALL. She was unmarried and I am not sure how long she stayed in San Antonio after that. Eventually she traveled with her son to Lubbock, Texas in 1941 where she placed him up for private adoption. After that, she disappeared perhaps she went back in the early 1940s to San Antonio. Anyway, in order to find any other information on either one of them, and since I reside in Massachusettes how would I go about getting a listing of the churches and hospitals of the early 1930s. Is there anyone working on the 1934 birth records? If I can get her address from the phone directory, that would give me a better indication of what churches were around her. Cindy Constantino
